Bodyweight hip hinge

Learn to fold at the hips with a steady spine.

How to do it

  1. Stand with soft knees and hands on your hips.
  2. Move your hips back while tipping your torso forward.
  3. Stand by bringing your hips forward, without leaning back.

Form check

The movement comes mainly from the hips, not from rounding your back.

Make it easier

Use a smaller hinge facing away from a wall.

Move within a comfortable range and keep breathing. Stop if a movement causes pain or you feel unwell. Ask a qualified trainer for help with unfamiliar equipment.
