Dumbbell curl

Learn a simple arm movement with light dumbbells.

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with a light dumbbell in each hand and your palms facing forward.
  2. Keep your elbows close to your sides as you bend them to lift the weights.
  3. Slowly lower the weights until your arms are comfortably straight.

Form check

Keep your wrists in line with your forearms. Use a weight that allows you to stay still without swinging.

Make it easier

Reduce the range of movement and use a stable support where appropriate.

Move within a comfortable range and keep breathing. Stop if a movement causes pain or you feel unwell. Ask a qualified trainer for help with unfamiliar equipment.
