Incline push-up

An approachable push-up using a stable raised surface.

How to do it

  1. Place your hands a little wider than shoulder width on a fixed bench or sturdy surface.
  2. Step your feet back so your body forms a straight line.
  3. Bend your elbows to lower your chest toward the surface, then gently press away.

Form check

A higher surface makes the movement easier. Keep your shoulders relaxed and avoid letting your hips sag.

Make it easier

Reduce the range of movement and use a stable support where appropriate.

Move within a comfortable range and keep breathing. Stop if a movement causes pain or you feel unwell. Ask a qualified trainer for help with unfamiliar equipment.
