Stationary bike

Cycle at an easy, steady pace.

How to do it

  1. Ask staff to set the seat so your knee stays slightly bent at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
  2. Begin with low resistance and smooth pedalling.
  3. Reduce effort gradually before stopping.

Form check

Keep your shoulders relaxed and knees tracking forward.

Make it easier

Use less resistance or a recumbent bike.

Move within a comfortable range and keep breathing. Stop if a movement causes pain or you feel unwell. Ask a qualified trainer for help with unfamiliar equipment.
